WHAT IS A LOOK BOOK & HOW MANY PRINTS SHOULD I FEATURE IN MY LOOK BOOK?
WHAT IS A COMP CARD?
Think of your comp card like a business card. You will bring these to your agency & runway 'Go See's" (auditions). You will hand these out to the agents and leave your comp card behind with them. Keep them at hand for pre show 'white parties' before runway events or other events where there will be designers. Hand them out so they can remember you and call upon you for spring/fall catalog or designer look book shoots.
These are typically 9x12 basic and simple portfolio books with sleeves which you can insert your best photos. You can opt for a fancier leather look book, but if you are just getting started, a simple basic cover look book will do. It is industry standard.
Usually a model will have about 20 -25 images and more as they gain more experience and have more photos to add. This is also where you will add any 'Tear Sheets' from magazines you may have been published. (literally tear the sheet out of the magazine you were featured in. Not as popular anymore since we are no longer a heavy print industry and more of a digital commerce industry now. But if you have any from the past or if you were featured in a printed catalog, this is where you can add your 'tear sheets')
